RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS
Les Red Hot Chili Peppers sont les précurseurs du rock californien. Mélodies endiablées, corps dénudés comme on les aime, voici un groupe qui a la pêche. Les Red Hot décrochent leur premier contrat chez EMI en 1983 et deviennent rapidement LE groupe de rock californien incontournable. Leur premier album éponyme les fait connaître du public américain grâce à des prestations scéniques hallucinantes où le groupe finît régulièrement en tenue d'Adam. Le deuxième opus Freakie Stylie sort très rapidement, produit par George Clinton himself. C'est réellement en 1987, avec la sortie de Uplift Mofo Party Plan que les Red Hot connaissent une renommée internationale. Le single Fight Like a Brave percute les charts du monde entier. Suivront deux albums avant Blood Sugar Sex Magik, l'album de la consécration. Six millions d'albums vendus dans le monde, dont 350 000 en France, Under the Bridge et Give It Away en tête. 1995, sort One Hot Minute, incluant les tubes Aeroplane et My Friends. Californication sort dans les bacs pendant l'été 1999. En l'an 2000, Scar Tissue reçoit le Grammy de la meilleure chanson rock. Les Red Hot reviennent en force en 2002 avec l'album By The Way. L'année suivante, ils sortent un best of CD/DVD. En 2004, les Red Hot signent un album live Live in Hyde Park.

FOO FIGHTERS
Dave Grohl fonde les Foo Fighters en 1995 suite au décès de Kurt Cobain, leader du groupe Nirvana qui la fait connaître en tant que batteur. C'est en tant que chanteur / guitariste que Dave Grohl refait surface avec l'album Foo fighters en 1995 dont il enregistre tous les instruments avec l'aide de son ami Barrett Jones. Il forme ensuite son groupe avec le bassiste Nate Mendel, le batteur William Goldsmith et le guitariste Pat Smear avec lequel il a déjà collaboré au sein de Nirvana. Le single This is a Call cartonne et les Foo Fighters s'embarquent pour une longue tournée. Au cours de celle-ci, sort le single Big Me qui assoit définitivement la popularité de la formation. William Goldsmith quitte le groupe lors de l'enregistrement du deuxième album et laisse Dave Grohl signer la majeure partie du disque. Taylor Hawkins, ex batteur d'Alanis Morissette, intègre le groupe avant la sortie de The Colour and the Shape en 1997. Pat Smear est remplacé brièvement par Franz Stahl. En 1999, les Foo Fighters signent leur troisième album intitulé There is Nothing Left to Lose avec le guitariste Chris Shiflett. Le groupe prend ensuite son temps pour livrer en 2003 One by One.
